Yes it's a beautiful conversion, the atmosphere is good and the bar impressive, it's just a shame the service was shocking and the food average. We went in for a pre-theatre birthday meal. The menu was set so the kitchen and chef should have been ready to cope (this is what they do every night, being opposite a theatre and all)We were not given a wine list and had to order a wine blind, it took 15 minutes for our waitress to appear, we weren't going to wait another 15 minutes to order a bottle. We arrived at 17.45 expecting to have time for a main and pudding before the 19.30 show across the road. Our main meal did not arrive until after 19.00, having being ordered an hour earlier. We had asked after our food twice and a substitution had been done by request of the restaurant.Needless to say by the time the food arrived we were starving and rushed and there was no time for desert.I wouldn't bother going here again for anything more than a glass of wine at the bar, because as I say, it is a nice venue.Instead try Buffalo Bills or Buon Gusto for good service and food. These guys know their pre theatre market and are only a minute walk from the theatre too, shouldn't have bothered giving Joe's a chance, next time we'll be going back to our usual haunts!

  • 8 Relaxed long lunch

A long standing island favourite. As a local there arent many places on the island I could happily eat at every day (if my budget allowed). But Joes has always been a firm favourite and I'd happily go back time after time. I recommend both Ryde and Newport Joes for daytime eating and evening entertainment. I currently work in Ryde and find Joes a great place to unwind at lunchtime. The service is good and the atmosphere relaxed. An excellent place to sit and chill out during the busy work day.I also recommend the monthly ICandi nights that are held in Newport. Great local art talent on display.
