What Is BJJ?

BJJ is short for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu a modern martial art highly popular for use in MMA Mixed Martial Arts and Submission Grappling Competition and for Self Defence, Its a grappling based martial art that's highly focused on ground fighting and allowing a smaller person to overcome a larger person by using intelligent technique and leverage instead of strength and muscle to win.

What Are The Classes Like?

Our Jiu Jitsu Classes in Portsmouth are always highly technical and focus on the details and concepts within a highly positive and friendly atmosphere. The teaching method is friendly and patient, I put my all into lessons and each student to ensure they get maximum development and success. We study and teach the martial art as a whole including takedowns and self defence as well as the competition aspects.

Do I Need Any Experience Or Fitness?

No. Experience or fitness is not necessary, we are very accommodating and encouraging to new beginners at our martial arts classes in portsmouth and each person is allowed to work at their own rate of progress and comfort as they gradually get used to the art of BJJ.

We are a member club of the UKBJJA UK Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association and as such meet and uphold the high standards required by this governing body in order to ensure the preservation of the arts values.

Where Do I Go?

Mondays: No Gi 7.30-8.30pm Tuesday's & Friday's: Gi 7.30pm-9pm
